Twitter – measure site traffic from tweets

The company I work for is actively pursuing the use of Twitter to contact customers and companies alike.

Holiday Extras on Twitter.

Thusfar, we have been predominantly releasing details of the news stories we publish on our site, polls, competitions and prize draws, and special offers.

As it stands, simply through pursuing the channels identified and following other companies, we have amassed a not insignificant 240+ followers. But can this be regarded as a success?

In order to determine this, we have used Twittertise and now Cligs to keep track the number of visitors to our site via shortened urls.

It seems to be working. In the past 24 hours we can account in excess of 200 visits to our sites from the tweets we post.

Let’s just hope that it is actual users following the links!
